Farmers Electric Cooperative’s Annual Meeting
Each year in October, Farmers Electric Cooperative holds its Annual Meeting. The event gives Farmers EC the chance to appreciate our members and gives members the chance to participate in setting policies and making decisions. It’s also a great opportunity to learn more about the co-op.
One of the principles Farmers EC was found founded on is Democratic Member Control, this means that we are a democratic organization controlled by our members, who actively participate in setting policies and making decisions. The elected Board of Directors is accountable to the membership.
Members elect the Board of Directors at the Annual Meeting. If a member cannot attend the meeting, they can still vote by sending in the proxy they receive in the mail each September. The Farmers EC board members serve three-year, staggered terms and represent specific geographic districts within Farmers EC’s service area. The results of the election are announced at the Annual Meeting.
The 2012 Annual Meeting was held on October 6th at the legendary Southfork Ranch, made famous in the television show Dallas. Farmers Electric Cooperative would like to thank all of our members who attended the 2012 Annual Meeting and made it such a success. We look forward to serving you for many years to come.
Special thanks to the FFA Officers from Boles, Cumby and Wylie East. We also want to thank the Greenville High School Navy Junior ROTC for the Presentation of Colors.
Farmers Electric Cooperative's 2013 Annual Meeting will be held on Saturday, October 19th at the Hopkins County Civic Center.
