Renewable or "green" power has been a hot topic in the news over the past few years. Concerns about coal generated power plants and air quality have been at the forefront of politics.
As an electric cooperative, Farmers EC must constantly balance the interests of our members, employees, and communities in order to provide the most economical and reliable power while limitiing our impact on the environment. Currently only 20% of the electricity used by Farmers EC comes from coal. The rest comes from cleaner sources like natural gas and renewables.
Farmers Electric Cooperative is strongly committed to promoting green power and at this time, we are reviewing several programs we hope to have enacted in the near future.
